Tribute to King Shakuntala.

Date - September, 2010

Banderban is one of the greatest natural heritages in Chittagong, Bangladesh. While taking those photographs I felt my emotion back which I used to relish in Kolkata last time. This time I discovered something more and that is the eternal relation between human and nature. I tried to create a sensible state of Nature at the background of human body. In my teenage I read an ancient novel, (Avigyanam Shakuntalam) ”The Story of Shakuntala”, written by Poet Kalidas in which the central character Shakuntala was always presented in attires made out of different elements of nature such as leaves, flowers, seeds, etc. Remembering that novel I got more inspiration to do these photographs series. That’s why I named this Tribute to King Shakuntala.

Scream

Date - July 2010
On a Usual day in Dhaka on 27th June 2010 I found myself seeing a video clip on one website. In that clip I saw some people were being punished to death by a good amount of people who were throwing stone to them. When I read the note below the clipping, I was surprised to see that their sin was love --- one did love a widow and the other two were gay. More than 100 people were throwing stone until the sinners were completely covered with blood.
For the time being I felt as if I were there and I were suffering for my love. At that moment I felt like crying my heart out.
With all my emotion, while I was doing my performance (Scream), I was scared by remembering that clip. I screamed from the core of my heart : aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.........................

Me and Nature

Date -
July 2010

Photography always gives me a different sort of pleasure. Last time when I visited Kolkata, I was in my uncle’s house which is in Garia. It was a newly developed area near the city of Kolkata. My uncle’s house was in the midst of the beauty of nature. Throughout the day I could see the sky and greeneries whenever I wanted to. I felt as if I got my life back that I left long days back in my village during my childhood. To catch that emotion I was busy with doing paintings on the first few days. But soon I was disappointed with that. Then I started taking photographs with my Digital camera. Here are a few in display.

Under the red Carpet,

On May 06, 2009, there was a 4 days long performance workshop with the Japanese Artist Seiji Shimoda .The work which I did over there is named Under the red carpet........
Carpet always shows respect to the person who walks on it or sits on it. But often we don't notice the life under the carpet. Or in different ways what's the reason behind to show respect to the person who walks on it. I notice in the society we always see something and the reality is something else. And that else Always exists beyond our eyesight. In my work moving under the carpet tries to portray the inside story of the society.

The ghost with thousands of eyes

Date- November 2009
Once upon a time, a ghost was caught in this country. There were thousands of eyes on its body. It is said that if anybody was caught by the ghost, he could never escape from his vision.
One day, within a short time after being captivated, he flew away from the country accompanied by three sentries who had guarded him.
Many years have passed; wise men are saying the ghost has come back again in this age of television, computer, mobile, satellite. Now the invisible ghosts control the human civilization.
